G12 Life Group Notes– October 21 2012 – 6:30 a.m. Pastor Goudeaux __ Open in Prayer Song Testimonies Prayer of Three Witnessing Receive Offering Renewing of the Mind (Transformation) People are losing a sense of eternity, we must take the Kingdom to them (Share the Word) Romans 12:1, 2 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. • Verse 1 – Be open to all truth • Verse 2 – [Be not] – a present verb that forbids continuing an action. It requires an immediate shift [conformed] – shaped/act like the world John 2:15-17 15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise. 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. • Three weapons: 1. Lust of the flesh 2. Lust of the eyes 3. Pride of life • Verse 17 – [He that doeth the will of God] abideth forever • If you love the world then God can’t be in you • “Doeth the will” is under constant attack • We are constantly under attack in our minds • Our own thoughts pollute us, not someone else’s Psalm 1:1-3 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. • Verse 1 - Blessed is the man… his delight is in the law of God (The determining factor is the renewing of the mind • Verse 2 – “Delighteth [meditate], bringeth forth, “Whatsoever he doeth” (this is commitment) • Verse 3 - Shall be like a tree. “His season, His fruit, His leaves G12 Life Group Notes– October 21, 2012 – 6:30 a.m. Pastor Goudeaux __ Be changed = Transformed I Corinthians 13:5 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; • No selfishness is a transformed life • You must tell your mind “This is what I’m going to think” • The renewing of the mind is when you receive the fullness of life • Be not a man pleaser • Make up your mind to grow up

What is the most important thing the lost need? “Salvation” 2. After Salvation, what is the most important thing that you need as a believer? “The renewing of the mind” Matthew 6: 25-34 25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why take ye thought for raiment? Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof Notice how many times he told us to “take no thought” • Verse 25……Take no thought • Verse 27……Which of you by taking thought • Verse 28……And why take ye thought • Verse 31……Therefore take no thought • Verse 34……Take therefore no thought • God continues to tell us to take no thought because obviously it is possible for us to take thought Proverbs 23:7 7For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. • The heart here represents the soul or the suke’(not the spirit) • Your thoughts are derived from your mind G12 Life Group Notes – October 14, 2012 – 05:30 p.m. Pastor Goudeaux(Con’t) Romans 12:2 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. • You must be transformed by the renewing of the mind • Men/women don’t think they conform • The law of the lid “There were flea’s that were placed in a jar. Normally they are able to jump 18-24 inches, however the jar was 10 inches high and had a lid on it. After putting the fleas in there for a while they just were only to jump the 10 inches because that is where the top of lid stopped. So although they had potential to do more, they were capped to 10 inches. The interesting thing is that their children/next generation would not jump any higher even without the lid being off” Philippians 2:5 5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: • It says, “Let” so you must let it if it is to be in you • There are some people you try to teach but they won’t “let” it be in them • “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job” Mark 5:15 15And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. • The man was clothed and in his right mind after deliverance • Satan is after your mind • He will use your parents, close friends, authority figures and others in order to capture your thoughts 2 Corinthians 10:5 5Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; • You must cast down those imaginations • Deal with any negative self-images that you have of yourself …Do you see yourself unworthy, always going through etc. • Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you become your reality • You must arrest thoughts yourself Proverbs 4:23 23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life • You keep your heart • Your mind is your greatest asset • You must take possession of your own mind Ask for Prayer Requests Close in Prayer
