(the obedience to do) • It takes faith to get there and stay there • Your evidence is in your faith • The enemy challenges your faith • You will be challenged • Do you believe? • The shift forward will not go uncontested • Pastor Goudeaux is like the clutch • He stimulates you to pray, witness, and to participate in G12 G12 Life Group Notes– May 26, 2013 – 6:30 a.m. Pastor Goudeaux __ I Kings 17:1-10 Faith and Fear in operation 1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. 2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. 5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. 7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. 8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. • Verse 1-5: GOD spoke to the prophet “there will be no rain” • He was told to stay at the brook • He had to believe GOD - This is a shift! • Verse 5-7: He went and did (you must be men and women of faith) • If you’re in a panic - your faith is challenged • Fear brings anxiety, worry and concerns “Where Fear is, Faith is dismissed.” Dr. P.G. Goudeaux The enemy will always bring in someone to stammer your faith/belief. You must do by faith, in order for GOD to keep His hand on you. Obedience is required. • Verse 7: Another shift is when the brook dried up • Verse 8,9: Appears to be illogical (leave the brook and go to a struggling widow) • Verse 10 – “He arose” (obedience) Can GOD bless you and you give? (sacrifice) The challenge is through giving, Sow the seed if it’s not meeting your need. This is an area that requires you to shift also. GOD uses others to help you get there (to shift). GOD is working through your Pastor to help you get there. (Shift) “Some have to be at the bottom of the barrel to look up!” Dr. P.G. Goudeaux The blessing is in the opportunity.
