Purpose – The King’s Meat

Daniel 1:8,9

8But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portions of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.

• Refuse anything that can defile your walk with Christ
• Favor kicks in when you stand in integrity

Proverbs 19:21

21There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

• Purpose brings forth the plans of God

Job 27th Chapter

5God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. 6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

• Being a person of integrity takes self control (self restraint)

Galatians 5:22, 23

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

• You should be praying for the Fruit of the Spirit
• No weapon can override the Fruit of the Spirit
• The Fruit of the Spirit reinforce and undergird integrity

Self Control
The ability to control one’s emotions, behavior, and desires in order to obtain some reward later, and is the capacity of efficient management to the future.

Discipline
Training expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior, especially training that produces moral or mental improvement.

I Corinthians 9:23-27

23And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. 24Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. 26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

• You must bender self control all the time
• Discipline is mandatory
• Remind your body about discipline
• Self control is a major part of your integrity
• The lack of integrity will result in your downfall as a leader, father, and a provider

I Corinthians 6:12

12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

• The enemy does everything to cause your demise

A Commitment to Integrity

Job 31:1-6
1I made a covenant with mine eyes: why then should I think upon a maid? 2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high? 3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity? 4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps? 5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit; 6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.

• (1) I made a covenant (commitments) with mine eyes…..
• Integrity does not change under pressure
• It will uphold you in the toughest of times
• Integrity takes a stand and it has a standard
• It cannot be shifted from excellence

Psalms 15:1-5
1Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbor, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbor. 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

• You never have to tell anybody what you are
• What you are will speak louder than what you say or claim to be

Job 27:1-6
1Moreover Job continued his parable, and said, 2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; 3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; 4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit. 5 God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. 6 My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.

Psalms 7:8
8The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

• Integrity takes commitment just like a marriage does
• A person of integrity has self control

Galatians 5:16-26
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

• Walking in integrity soars above Walking in the flesh
• Therefore, there will always be a discord between the two Spirits
• A commitment to anything you are doing in your life
• Is also a commitment to integrity

If You Do Not Have Integrity – Then You Can Not Demand Integrity

Proverbs 11:3
3The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

• No one can grow without being stretched
• Integrity demands one to be stretched
• A part of growing is stretching
• A good coach will always put pressure on you
• Complacency is the greatest enemy to integrity
• Integrity does not change under pressure

Integrity Comes First

• Integrity can be a lonely choice
• Integrity can help you stand in the midst of the darkness
• You are not born with integrity
• Integrity is developed within you

Integrity distinguishes you as a person of excellence

Proverbs 20:7
7The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

• You will always seek to do what is right
• What you compromise today
• You will lose tomorrow
• There must be a fight for integrity
• It does not come natural
• Compromise is positioned behind integrity

“Pursue, Overtake, and Recover All”
“Fighting Off Discouragement”

I Samuel 30:1-9 Exodus 14:9

• Loyalty – Dedication – Covenant: Where have these things gone?

• At some point in your life – You have to stand your ground

• You can not let everybody persuade you to go the opposite direction

• The number one tactic the devil is using today against Christians is: discouragement

• The devil is doing everything he can to discourage those who have put their faith and confidence in God

• He wants to knock you out the park – Because he does not want your life to bring glory and honor to God

• If you will just stand on the word and keep doing what God wants you to do

• God will show up on your behalf and people will see the Glory of God on your life

• The enemy knows that God requires your faith – That is why he tries to break your focus

• Discouragement: To be drained of courage – Wanting to give up because it’s hard

• The enemy wants to rob you of courage

• He wants you to give up the fight – He wants you to operate in sense-knowledge - Not faith

• This life is about fighting – It’s about standing for what you know is right – Not giving in

• When you’re in a battle, there are two truths that you need to know:

1. Your battle is always for a reason (there is something you need to learn)
2. Your battle is always for a season (it’s not going to be forever, it comes to an end)

• Find out what the reason is

• As soon as you get a victory – The devil will still come after you

• The devil is a pursuer

• Why would you start crying when God has just brought you out – Gave you a victory?

• You have to stay in faith and talk the language of faith

• Speak the word – Because the word gives God legal rights to get involved in your situation

• Stop crying and start celebrating – Because now you will get to see another victory

• The devil is not smart because he keeps coming back – But he keeps getting defeated

• Ten things you need to know when you are dealing with the Spirit of Discouragement:

1. Think on what God has already done in your life (Exodus 13:3)
2. See God bigger than your problem
3. You have to have faith in what God says (Numbers 23:19)
4. Say what God says about your problem
5. Fellowship with encouragers – Not discouragers
